DIY bikini makeover//Upcycling

Just to exhibit how easy and how fun it is to upcycle and DIY I want to just show you a little project I did yesterday...
This bikini was purchased from Walmart for a total of $11. All I did was take a dress I bought from GoodWill for $5 and cut the lace part from the back. I loved the dress but it just didn't fit right however it went to good use anyway.

I just hand stitched the lace on which took a total of about 1.5 hours. I was very simple and really made all the difference. :)

Making the most of life... On a budget

1) Volunteer work... There are lots of opportunities out there. Picking up garbage or reading to senior citizens are not the only options you have! I encourage you to research topics you feel you have some interest in or passion for and see if there are opportunities. It's also a fantastic way to meet people. You can even volunteer online.

2) Get into DIY. There are so many things you can do yourself! Go on pinterest or do some googling... This can turn into a great hobby. You can learn how to sew etc. etc. You can also watch youtube videos to learn how to do almost anything!

3) Take some classes. I, for example want to take aerial classes and lyra hoop classes. I did some research and 1 month trial of classes is $65 which includes about 5 classes and 2 open practices. If you really define your needs and wants, it is a lot easier to make a budget that includes this kind of stuff. There are even free classes if you just do your research.

4) Go to a local park or a local swimming hole. You can have a great time hiking or jumping off a rope swing! Just google! You can go tubing on a river which is loads of fun for a small fee.

5) Try WWOOFing!.... You go to an organic farm anywhere in the world and volunteer! Most places offer basic accommodation like food and shelter. You do work for 4-5 hours a week and then you can explore the local area. You just have to pay your own travel fee.

What is this blog?

Well my name is Cris...

Basically this blog is about a variety of things.

1) DIY.. I love to do things myself. If it can be done I want to do it! I love upcycling clothes and in the future, furniture. I am obsessed (yes, I admit) with pinterest and finding new DIYs and various different hacks.

2) Travel... Hence the title. You guys have no idea since we not acquainted but I have been back home for just over a year now from an intense 6 month long trip to India and just a few months before that adventuring all over Mexico and British Columbia, Canada. I was 19 when I left and nearly 21 by the time I got home. So I am now saying in one place but seriously, the ocean and open roadways are always calling my name. I can hear the sirens singing.

I will share little road trips and weekend trips that I take even with a full time job working in an office. I haven't done much domestic travel so that will be the travel talk. I will even more importantly talk about how to do it on a budget but still be as comfortable and *glamorous* as possible. ;)

3) I have PTSD. This blog will also contain posts about how I deal with it being prescription free.

4) I do my best to live a simple, chemical free lifestyle so I will share my opinions and helpful tips in regards to that.

5) I have been living Paleo (mostly!) (Ties into number 4) so I will share recipes and experiences cooking paleo (I.e. like how difficult it is to cook with coconut flour).

6) Other ramblings and things about my daily life and being a young adult trying to figure it out and handling the mundane-ness of it all. Frankly, when you have been traveling for so long, staying in one place and being apart of the rat race and being on a tight budget is mundane to me however it can be appreciated by making the most of life and having all the adventures you possibly can!
